Sterling Heights adopted its own Stormwater Management Standards, effective May 17, 2023, and prohibits illicit discharges into the city storm sewer. The city also requires a floodplain development permit for work proposed within mapped flood hazard areas -- both relevant to moisture conditions around foundations, crawl spaces, and grading.
